Sorry I don’t have a 991A so I can’t be specific about what to do, there may be some menu options on the 991A for the serial ports or something. The initial user account supplied with the typical home PC comes with administrative privledges. The TQSL installer does need to be run from an account which has Administratve privledges. The rig shouldn’t go into transmit, so I think you need to get this part working first! Just open up the installer 'normally' by right clicking on it and selecting Install. I suggest checking out the chipset used on the 991A to ensure that you have the latest Mac drivers for either SLAB (Silicon Labs) or the other big USB chipset manufacturer (can’t remember their name at the moment) installed. Apologies if I am missing some obvious setting in WSJT-X, but how is everyone uploading their QSOs instantly to QRZ now. A standard Apple USB to lighting dongle should work fine, nothing fancy needed in my several years experience. I don’t have an M1 Mac but use my MacBook Pro and desktop iMac all the time with my 9700/Elecraft K4 for WSJT-X. MacLoggerDX supports ADIF Import/Export which is fully compatible with and the ARRL LoTW.
