Although it sounds all doom and gloom it’s truly not because Rafe manages to actually keep his head held high and manages to be humorous through the entire book. I love the fact the author has made Rafe very real with slight worries and upsets that most teenagers face, I found this helped my son as he makes the transition from tween to teen because he was bullied and this book in a way helped him cope knowing others faced the same. Rafe is also being bullied and continues to struggle keeping his marks at a good standard whilst this is all going on. Poor old Rafe has a less fortunate home life which his mother’s partner contributes to. You will learn about Rafe and follow him through his school days which will keep your children hooked throughout. This childrens book actually captures exactly what is was like at Middle School and what growing up is really like although it’s written with a fun and quirky approach.
